Swim Meets
Swim meets are an exciting part of being a part of the Morganton Swim Club! They give swimmers the chance to track progress, try new events, and cheer on teammates. Whether it’s your first meet or your fiftieth, here’s what to expect:
Before the Meet
💧 Arrival Time: It's best arrive 15–20 minutes before warm-ups.
💧 What to Bring: Suit, swim cap, goggles (plus an extra pair), several towels (they won't have time to dry out between events), sharpie, water bottle, healthy snacks, and warm clothes for between races.
💧 You should have your event/heat/lanes before the meet. Be sure you know this info!
During the Meet
💧 Team Spirit: Cheer for your teammates and celebrate each race.
💧 Stay Ready: Rest, hydrate, and listen to coaches/announcements so you don’t miss your race.
Sportsmanship
💧 Always thank officials, timers, and volunteers.
💧 Shake hands or give a “good job” to swimmers in your heat.
💧 Focus on effort and improvement, not just ribbons or times.
After the Meet
💧 Cool down if time allows.
💧 Help tidy the team area.
Parents & Families
💧 Cheer loudly and positively but leave the coaching to the coaches.
💧 Remember: Swim meets should be fun and supportive experiences for every swimmer.
